Artist statement
My camera is my tool for transforming the token moment into a story that awakes amazement, understanding and accept of the world around us, seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary.
Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved. It is all about seeing. Do you see the mystery or do you see the problem? It is a big difference in seeing and looking. Most of the time we are just looking, that takes not much from us. When we start seeing, the mystery reveals.
About me

As a young kid I run around with my fathers two Leica cameras, photographing whatever I came across. I set up a provisory darkroom in our bathroom, learning the fundamentals of how to make black and white photographs appear on paper. However, other interests came in my way, and the camera was put away for many years except for common holyday- and family shooting.

My wife is an visual artist, and in 2000 we founded a school for visual art in Oslo. There were so many photos to be taken of work and exhibitions, and very soon I bought my first Nikon camera. There were also a growing demand for digital prints, and even more photos of art had to be taken. And why not make a business of that? So Gicleelab as was born, a lot of professional photo gear was suddenly at my hand.

The art school and Gicleelab is no longer ours, and as retired I spend most of my time with my camera and working together with my wife making digital art.
